Who loves Auntie Anne's? I know I do! Whether savory or sweet, I love the taste of those buttery, soft pretzels. My absolute favorite is the Sweet Almond Soft Pretzel. It melts in your mouth...ugh, just writing about it makes me hungry!
Unfortunately, since moving to CT, the locations of Auntie Anne's has been scarce. Luckily, we found one in Hartford that would deliver to us but it wasn't the same as getting it freshly baked. And you know me, once I love how something tastes, I set out to try and recreate it.
Now, I won't claim that this recipe is a copycat of those amazing pretzels, but it comes pretty darn close! At least enough to keep my and my husband's cravings at bay until we're able to get the real thing ;)
It seems like a lot but it’s not hard or long to make; I promise you! With limited ingredients you can make this quickly for guests as an appetizer or serve on its own as a meal!
Honestly, whenever I make sauces or gravy I just wing it. I don’t measure ingredients much; just eyeball it and adjust to taste accordingly. :) But for those who need measurements, here is a recipe I created that can be used as a great seafood sauce on its own or as a great base for a bisque. This especially goes well with shrimp, lobster or fish and tops pasta, rice or potatoes nicely!
I miss NYC!!! :( Ever since I attended HS in midtown Manhattan and also worked in the city, one of my favorite lunches I always sought out was from those Halal carts. I LOVE the gyro platters they sold! (Basmati rice with chicken or gyro meat) The one component that always elevated the dish was the white sauce they drizzled over it. I can literally eat that sauce by the spoonful; it's so delicious.
The sauce was apparently created by The Halal Guys, who got their franchise start with halal carts in midtown Manhattan, back in 1990. (To think I was only 4 yrs old at the time!)
I personally think one of the best foods in NYC is obviously NYC Pizza and Gyros ;) So I went on a quest to replicate this iconic sauce (still working on recreating NYC pizza though!)
A decadent chocolate cake with black chocolate buttercream; topped off with white chocolate ganache...perfect for the ultimate chocolate lover and just in time for Halloween!
It's that time of year again; Halloween! My favorite time of year to experiment on some gruesome looking cakes!
This year I kept it simple as I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand just 4 days prior and my dominant hand wasn't at full strength yet. I had done a bloody cake in the past; using edible "glass" shards but the concept was the same! To make less work for myself, I decided to go with a "stabbed" cake to pay tribute to all those awesome, old-school, slasher films. Ode to the 70s and 80s!
