Basic Yellow Cake

Ingredients
  • ¾ cup butter, softened
  • 1 ⅔ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ⅓ cups whole milk
Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Grease and four two 9-inch layer pans.
  2. Beat the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together in large bowl.
  3. Sift the dry ingredients together.
  4. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the butter mixture; beat until smooth after each addition. completely.
  5. Pour into the greased pans and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Cool in cake pans on wire racks for 10 minutes.
  7. Turn out onto racks; cool completely. Fill and frost as desired.
