This is my go-to guacamole.

Great with Guacamole Pepper Poppers and Marinated Portobello Bun Burgers

For a variation on classic guacamole, try Chunky Guacamole. Also see Whole30 Guacamole and Creamy Avocado Dressing
Ingredients
  • 2 ripe Haas avocados or 1 Florida avocado
  • juice of one lime (or less to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder, or to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  •
  • subheading: Optional ingredients:
  • cilantro or culantro, finely chopped (opt)
  • 1 tsp cumin (opt)
  • dash cayenne (opt)
  • 1 jalapeno, stem and seeds removed, minced (add more or less to taste) (opt)
Steps
  1. Remove avocado from shell carefully into a bowl. I like to use a spoon to get every last bit of the meat from the inside.
  2. Add rest of ingredients and mash together with a fork.
  3. Serve immediately, or cover the bowl with plastic wrap (so that the plastic is literally touching the entire top layer of the guacamole) and refrigerate.
Notes
  • I do not like adding tomatoes to guacamole because they tend to make it too thin. However, I do love sprinkling diced tomatoes over the top when serving.
