  • 1 cup olive oil, divided
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced (about 1 ½ tablespoons), divided
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided, plus more to taste
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (28-ounce) can fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from 2 limes)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste
  • Flatbread or potato chips, for serving
