Find out how to quickly and easily make delicious and protein-packed seitan in an instant pot.

Seitan is very versatile as it can be used in stir fries, pastas, wraps, basically anything you want. Also feel free to adjust the seasonings to your preference.

The best thing about seitan is it's packed with protein! A whopping 6-7 times as much as the same quantity of tofu, tempeh and most nuts and legumes.

Ingredients

  • Seitan method -
  • subheading: Dry Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups vital wheat gluten
  • ¼ cup chickpea flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ to 1 tsp of a selection of herbs (like oregano, thyme, rosemary, marjoram)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • ½ tsp chile powder (optional)
  • subheading: Wet ingredients:
  • 1 and ¼ cups water + 2 tsp veg stock powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • subheading: Stock:
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp veg stock powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ to 1 tsp of a selection of herbs (like oregano, thyme, rosemary, marjoram)
  • 1 tsp salt
