Macaroni cheese (slow cooker)

Ingredients
  • 2 to 2½ cups (200 to 250g) of penne, macaroni or any other robust pasta shapes
  • 25g of butter
  • 3 cups (300g) grated cheddar or Colby cheese
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 3 cups boiling water
Steps
  1. Turn the slow cooker on high to preheat and coat the bowl with non stick spray
  2. Tip the pasta into the slow cooker bowl. Melt the butter in a small pot or microwave then pour it over the pasta and stir to combine
  3. Cover with the lid and cook on high for 2½ to 3 hours. If you’re passing through the kitchen, story gently every hour or so.  (2 hours is plenty)
  4. Note; you can reduce the heat to low after about 2 hours and cook for a further 2 to 3 hours if desired. The longer it cooks the softer the pasta will be.
