Ingredients
- ½ cup room temperature water
- 1 t. Instant Yeast
- ½ t. sugar
- 1 ¼ cup all purpose flour
- ½ t. salt
- 2 ½ fluid oz. of mix of extra virgin olive oil and vegetable oil DIVIDED
- subheading: PIzza Sauce:
- 8 oz. can whole plum tomatoes in puree
- 4 oz. can tomato puree
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- salt and pepper to taste
Steps
- The day before making the pizza, make the dough.
- In a mixing bowl, add water heated to 90 to 100 degrees.
- Mix in yeast and stir until completely integrated. Add sugar. Stir until completely combined.
- Let this mixture sit for 6 to 10 minutes until bubbles are forming.
- Add flour and stir with your finger.
- Add salt and 1 ½ oz of the virgin olive oil mix and mix with your hands forming a ball.
- Knead dough in your hands or on a cutting board until fully combined. About 3 to 5 minutes.
- Place dough on a plate and cover in plastic wrap.
- Let stand for 30 to 45 minutes. dough will double in size.
- Best to refrigerate overnight.
- subheading: Pizza Sauce Steps:
- Combine all sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Notes
- 6" Individual size pizza pan - half the recipe. They estimate the dough will weigh about 6 oz.
- 12" pizza pan - 1 ½ times the recipe.
- 14" pizza pan - double the recipe.
- 16Feb2020 - The dough recipe made 10.7 ounces of dough. I let the dough rise in the refrigerator over night. It did double in size. I put it all in the 6" pizza pan.
- 07Apr2020 - Made the dough. I got exactly 10.7 ounces of dough. It did not rise well at all. I let it rise for 1.5 hours and then put it in the refrigerator overnight. It did not rise much. But it tasted good. I baked it in my small cast iron pan, which is 8 inches.
