Frances Gaynor's Trash
Ingredients
  • subheading: Dry Mix (Trash):
  • 2 cups cherrios
  • 2 cups corn chex
  • 2 cups wheat chex
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks, break in half
  • 1 cup mix nuts
  •  
  • subheading: Liquid Mix:
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ¼ tsp. garlic salt
  • ¼ tsp. celery salt
  • ¼ tsp. onion salt
  • ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Steps
  1. Mix the dry ingredients well in a large bowl.
  2. Mix liquid mix ingredients in a sauce pan and warm the mix.
  3. Pour the liquid mix over the dry ingredients and stir gently. Be sure the liquid mix is warm.
  4. Bake at 250° for 1 hours. Stir the mix every 15 minutes.
  5. Pour out on an absorbent paper. (I use brow bags with paper towels over them.)
  6. Let cool.

  • My special instructions:
  • I, personally, mix 5 recipes at a time of the Dry Mix. I mix 6 recipes of the Liquid Mix for every 5 recipes of the Dry mix.

  • I bake 4 to 6 weeks before Christmas. After cool, I store in a large plastic bag. I put the plastic bag in a large paper bag then store in a metal can and place the lid on tight. Store the tin in a cool place and it is ready for Christmas. By storing in the tin for a few weeks, the flavor improves. I call it curing till Christmas.
