Ham and Split Pea Soup
Adapted from Chef John's recipe.
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ onion, diced
  • 2 ribs celery, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1½ pound ham bone
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 pound dried split peas
  • 1 quart water
  • 1½ Tbsp chicken bouillon, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • paprika to taste
