  • 2 bunches green onions ,cut into 2 inch pieces, white parts kept separate

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce (a critical ingredient)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup brown sugar
