Red Cabbage

Ingredients
  • Head of red cabbage
  • onion with whole cloves poked into holes
  • duck or bacon fat
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • sugar
  • apple slices
  • vinegar (can be apple cider or white)
Steps
  1. Shred Cabbage into thin slices
  2. put all ingredients in a large pot or dutch oven: bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Remove onion before serving
