Great-Great-Grandmother Heyssel's Fruit Cream Pie

Ingredients
  • 1 of any complementary bottom crust
  • 2 cups (more or less as needed) any fruit, thinly sliced if applicable
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • ½ cup sugar, more or less depending on sweetness of fruit being used
  • 3 Tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups (approximately) half and half
  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, and other slices to taste
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. Directly onto unbaked crust, layer sliced fruit evenly.
  3. Sprinkle flour, sugar, and any spices being used over the surface As evenly as possible.
  4. Pour gently (over a wooden spoon as to disrupt the flour and sugar as little as possible) enough half and half to cover the entire mixture. Dot all over with butter.
  5. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes, then lower the oven to 350° and bake for approximately an hour longer.
  6. Allow to cool at least partially before serving with whipped cream.
