My Caramelized Onion Camembert Kalamata Olive and Walnut Pizza
Ingredients
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 4 red onions, medium, sliced
  • OR
  • 2 medium/large yellow onions
  • Salt and pepper
  • Refrigerated or prepared pizza dough or frozen prepared pizza base
  • ¾ cup pizza marinara
  • ½ round camembert cut into ¼” sliced
  • ½ cup Kalamata olives
  • 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • OR
  • 1 cup walnut halves
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
Steps
  1. Heat 4 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large skillet. Add onions; cook, stirring often until caramelized. Season with salt and pepper; set aside.
  2. Sprinkle 2 baking sheets with cornmeal. Divide dough in half; using hands or rolling pin, shape into 2 oblong crusts, each approximately 6 x 14 inches.
  3. OR
  4. Spread marinara over each crust; top with onions. Evenly space cheese around the crust and do the same for the walnuts then the olives. Brush edges with remaining oil.
  5. Bake in the bottom third of oven at 450° F for about 18 minutes, or until crust is a deep golden colour. Cut each pizza into 4 or 8 pieces.
