Air Fryer Spatchcock Chicken

Ingredients
  • 4lb - 5lb chicken
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • thyme
  • smoked paprika
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • extra fine salt (popcorn salt)
  • freshly ground black pepper
Steps
  1. Preheat air fryer to 325°
  2. Rinse chicken well.
  3. Cut out spine of chicken with kitchen shears and press chicken to flatten.
  4. Pat chicken dry with paper towels.
  5. Rub olive oil over all surfaces of the chicken.
  6. Lightly sprinkle thyme, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and extra fine salt over all the surfaces on the breast side of the chicken.
  7. Place chicken breast side down in the air fryer pan.
  8. Lightly sprinkle thyme, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and extra fine salt over all the surfaces on the bottom of the chicken.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Flip chicken so that the breast side is up. Be sure that chicken is flattened in the pan.
  11. Bake for 30 minutes or until thermometer reads 165° for internal temperature.

  • This recipe was tested using a Cuisinart TOA-65 air fryer.
