Episode 16 Burger and Ketchup
Ingredients
  • subheading: Ketchup:
  • 1 - 6 oz can of tomato paste
  • 1 Tablespoon - apple cider vinegar
  • 2 - dates
  • ¼ teaspoon or less - ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon - dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon - ground all spice
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon - onion powder
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon - garlic powder
  • ¼ cup water or more to achieve desired consistency
  • subheading: Base Burger Recipe (makes about 8 burgers):
  • 1 - 14 oz can kidney beans (about 1.5 cups cooked beans), try to get no-salt-added
  • 1 - 14 oz can additional beans of your choosing such as pinto, black, garbanzo, white beans, or do 1 cup of sweet potato
  • 1 cup - rolled oats
  • 1 cup - cooked brown rice
  • ¼ cup - diced tomatoes with juice from the can, or use some pico or salsa or ketchup or BBQ sauce. This adds the moisture.
  • Seasoning and optional adders
  • subheading: Seasonings & Adders:
  • ¼ to ½ cup of diced yellow onion, mushroom, kernel corn from can or frozen (no liquid from the can though). If you add too many things all at once you could throw off the ratio so play around with the things you like to eat.

  • Experiment with the amount but I recommend about 1 tablespoons of seasoning: no salt seasoning, Italian seasoning, curry powder, poultry seasoning
