Shirley's Batterway bread
White bread
Ingredients
  • 2¾ cups water
  • 2 pkgs. Yeast
  • 6½ cups flour
  • 3 T sugar
  • 1 T salt
  • 2 T shortening
Steps
  1. Pour water into a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast. Mix well. Add about half of the flour, sugar, salt, and shortening. Start mixer on medium speed, or beat by hand. Beat 2 minutes or until smooth. Add in the rest of the flour and stir in until flour disappears, 1 to 1½ minutes. Beating in this recipe takes the place of kneading.
  2. Bake at 400° for 30 to 40 minutes.
