Ingredients
  • 1 kg beef mince
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tblsp smokey BBQ sauce
  • 1 tblsp dried chives
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp dried parsley
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tblsp butter or margarine
  • 1 tblsp of brown sugar
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 6 medium Cos lettuce leaves
  • slices of cheddar cheese
Steps
  1. 1) Place mince in bowl and add herbs, salt, pepper, BBQ sauce and paprika, mix together.
  2. 2) Form into patty shapes and refrigerate while you prepare other ingredients.
  3. 3) slice onions thinly, melt butter or margarine in small frying pan sauté onions until soft, add brown sugar and mix well. Continue to cook until onions are sort and butter and brown sugar are well mixed. Remove from pan and cover with alfoil and set aside.
  4. 4) Slice tomatoes into thin slices, cut each lettuce leaf into 3 pieces. Slice cheese if necessary or use presliced cheese.
  5. 5) Fry the beef patties until well cooked, approx 4 minutes each side. Remove from frying pan and commence assembling burgers.
  6. 6) To assemble burger, place beef patty on bread roll, you can butter and toast the bread roll if you wish, top with ketchup and BBQ sauce, place onions, tomatoes and cheese on top, then finish with a few slices of cos lettuce. Place top of bun on the burger and eat!
