Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter.
  3. Add the egg to measuring cup before measuring out the milk. Mix them together before stirring into flour mixture until just moistened.
  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead briefly. Roll dough out into a ½ inch thick round. Cut into 8 wedges, and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
Notes
  • *Blueberry-lemon variant* Before adding wet ingredients, add:
  • ⅔ teaspoon lemon zest
  • ⅓ cup frozen blueberries
