Hot Dogs (vegan) (oil-free)

Ingredients
  • subheading: Liquid:
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  •

  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 2 tbs nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbs paprika
  •  
  • 8 12" x 12" sheets of aluminum foil
Steps
  1. Mix together water, soy sauce, ketchup liquid smoke and pepper in a small bowl
  2. Whisk together vital wheat gluten, chickpea flour, nutritional yeast and paprika in a large bowl
  3. Combine liquid and dry, mix thoroughly and allow to stand 5 minutes
  4. Get your steamer hot and ready
  5. Place ¼ cup of the dough on a sheet, shape it roughly like a hot dog and roll it up, twisting the ends tightly
  6. When all the packets are rolled up and the steamer is hot, place the packets in the steamer
  7. Steam for 30 minutes
  8. Allow to cool completely before unwrapping
  9. Reheat on the grill or for 30 seconds in the microwave
