  • 4 cups Water (or low sodium chicken broth)

  • 2 cups Heavy Cream (or half and half) plus more if needed
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1½ teaspoons Kosher Salt (or 1 teaspoon table salt) or to taste
  • 2 cups Stone Ground Grits yellow or white (or other Long Cooking Grits) uncooked
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
