Candy Cane Cookies
Red sprinkles and candy canes mean Santa is on his way.
I know Santa will have no problem polishing off a few of these wonderful cookies!

Ingredients
  • subheading: Cookie:
  • ½ cup butter; softened
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • ¾ teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  •  
  • subheading: Topping:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint stick candy
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 °
  2. Cream the butter, shortening, and sugar together until nice and smooth
  3. Add egg, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, food coloring, salt, and flour blending well
  4. Place spoonfuls onto an untreated cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 375 ° for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the topping mix on cookies when you take them out of the oven.
