Pasta: Diana's Hamburger Stroganoff For Two

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ chopped medium onion, about ½ cup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon minced garlic)
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon beef soup base
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 7-ounce can mushroom stems and pieces (optional)
  • 1 8-ounce can cream of chicken soup w/ herbs
  • ½ cup sour cream (or 1 cup sour cream and ½ cup yogurt)
  • 4 ounces egg noodles, cooked
Steps
  1. In large skillet, sauté onions in butter about 4 minutes. Add garlic and sauté another minute, until onion is translucent.
  2. Add hamburger and cook until browned.
  3. Add flour cooking until well mixed with meat, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Add water, salt, pepper, soup base, Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms. Cook 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  5. Lower heat. Mix in soup and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in sour cream/yogurt and heat thoroughly.
  7. Mix in egg noodles just before serving.
Notes
  • Don't add salt to this.
