Cinnamon Apple Star Bread with Maple Icing
Ingredients

  • 3 and ¾ cups ( 450g) all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup ( 20g) instant potato flakes*
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored and chopped (I prefer Granny Smith apples)
  • ⅓ cup ( 33g) chopped pecans (optional)
  • subheading: Egg wash:
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon milk
  • subheading: Maple Icing:
  • 1 cup ( 130g) powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons ( 30g) pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons milk, as needed
