Ingredients
  • subheading: THE CHICKEN:
  • 2 to 4 pounds of chicken wings/wingettes/drumettes, rinsed OR 2 pounds of chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅔ cup of potato starch (preffered) or corn starch
  • 3 cups vegetable, corn, or canola oil, for frying ( I used this 12″ skillet that’s about 3″ deep which is ideal for pan frying. If you use a smaller skillet, use less oil)
  • subheading: THE SAUCE (FOR USING 3 to 4 POUNDS OF CHICKEN WINGS OR 2 POUNDS OF CHICKEN BREASTS. IF USING HALF THE CHICKEN, HALVE THE SAUCE INGREDIENTS. ALSO, SEE THE “JEFF'S TIPS” SECTION FOR MORE SAUCE IDEAS):
  • ⅔ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ⅓ cup water
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for spice and common for General Tso’s-style)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for spice and common for General Tso’s-style)
  • subheading: THE TOPPING:
  • Sesame Seeds (for Sesame Chicken-style)
  • Dried red chili peppers, for garnish (typically for General Tso’s-style)
