Cathy’s Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
  • 4½C to 5C all purpose flour
  • ⅓ C granulated sugar
  • 1 package fast acting rise yeast
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1½ C water
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ Cup melted butter
  •  
  • Filling
  • 2 tbs cinnamon
  • ⅔cup br sugar
  • ½C butter (1 sick) very soft to spread
  •  
  • (This part is if you add apples to inside)
  • 4 Granny Smith apples (2 for half rolls)
  • 4 tbs butter
  • ½C sugar
  •  
  • Cream Cheese Icing
  • 1 stick butter ½C
  • 8oz cream cheese
  • 4C powdered sugar
  • 1tsp vanilla
Steps
  1. 1. Combine 2C flour, sugar, dry yeast and salt in mixing bowl. Put water and butter in microwave save bowl and heat in 15 sec increments until temp reaches 120 to 130 degrees. Add this plus egg to flour mixture.
  2. 2. Beat on med speed for 2 min using a paddle beater scraping down sides. Add 1C and beat on high speed 1 min. Change paddle to dough hook and beat on low to med and gradually add additional flour 2C until ball forms.
  3. 3. Put in bowl in warm place and cover with plastic wrap until doubles.
  4. 4. Take butter and sugar add diced apples and sauté until carmalized. Set aside (4 apples added only)
  5. 5. Rollout dough to large rectangular. Take soft butter and spread it over dough to ¼ edges. Add cinnamon sugar mixture over dough. (Spread apples using a slated spoon over all) skip this if reg cinnamon rolls. Roll dough tightly long end. Cut dough with sharp straight edge knife in two inch sections.
  6. 6. Lay parchment paper in a 13x17 in baking pan. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise.
  7. 7. Bake 30 min on 350 degrees. Cool on wire wrack. Ice with cream cheese icing.

  9. 1. beat butter and cream cheese, add powdered sugar 1C at a time. Add vanilla. Beat on High 2 min until creamy.
