  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the chilled, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
