  • 1 ½ teaspoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, plus more for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • subheading: RICOTTA BÉCHAMEL:
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ⅔ cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese
  • subheading: ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:
  • 12 lasagna noodles, prepared according to pkg. directions and rinsed with cold water
  • 1 (16-oz.) pkg. pre-shredded mozzarella (about 4 cups)
  • 3 ounces Parmesan cheese, grated (about ¾ cup)
