Dutch Apple Pie
Ingredients
  • 1 pie crust
  • subheading: Filling:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 6 medium assorted apples - two types are nice
  • 1 Tbs cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbs butter
  •

  • ½ cup flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup quick oats or grind slightly whole oat flakes
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 6 Tbs cold butter cut into small pieces
Steps

  2. Core, peel and slice apples into about ¼" slices, and put in a large bowl.
  3. Add sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well. Add cider vinegar and toss to coat.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  5. Flour a work surface, and roll out 1 crust and line a pie plate with crust. Pinch the edges of the crust.
  6. Put apple mixture in the crust. Dot top with pieces of butter and bake pie for 20 minutes.
  7. In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, brown sugar, quick oats, cinnamon and nutmeg. Whisk together.
  8. Add cold butter and work with a pastry cutter until fully incorporated.
  9. Remove pie from oven after 20 minutes and top with streusel mixture and return to oven at 375°F.
  10. Bake for about 40 to 50 minutes more (when crust is golden and filling is bubbling through in parts).
  11. Cool before serving.
