Jalapeno Mezcal Margarita
Ingredients
  • subheading: FOR THE JALAPENO MEZCAL:
  • 2 c. mezcal (I recommend Sombra if you want a more pronounced smoky flavor.)
  • 6 slices fresh jalapeno, cut ¼" thick
  • subheading: FOR THE CHILI SALT RIM:
  • 2 T. kosher salt
  • 1 T. chili powder
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
  • ⅛ tsp. chipotle powder
  • a few grinds of freshly ground black pepper in a course/larger grind
  • fresh lime wedge
  • 2 oz. prepared jalapeno mezcal
  • 2 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
  • ½ oz. Cointreau
  • 3 to 4 drops orange bitters
  • ½ tsp. honey
  • chopped ice
  • fresh lime wedge, for garnish
  • fresh jalapeno slice, for garnish
