One-Pot French Onion Pasta
Ingredients
  • Unsalted butter: Melted butter gives a great start to the caramelized onions.
  • Yellow onions: We like yellow onions because they caramelize nicely but aren't too sweet in the finished dish.
  • Kosher salt and ground black pepper: A foundation for any dish.
  • Garlic: Adds a backbone of flavor for the whole dish.
  • Dry white wine: A Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio would work well.
  • Sherry vinegar: Adds depth to the finished dish.
  • Less-sodium beef broth and water: Because this is a one-pot pasta, we use both broth and water so the pasta has plenty of liquid to soak up.
  • Worcestershire sauce: This adds a little more umami flavor to the sauce.
  • Fresh thyme: A classic flavor in French onion soup, it also makes a pretty garnish on the finished pasta.
