Ingredients
- ½ lb. ground beef (7 to 10% fat)
- ¾ lb. ground pork
- ⅓ cup very finely diced onions
- 1 pkg. gelatin
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbs. flour
- ¼ cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (Or 2 tsp. garlic from a jar)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. paprika
- ⅛ tsp. cumin
- note: I'm not a fan of Worcestershire sauce so I don't use that.
- note: Also could try celery and chopped carrots. Make fine in blender with the onions. Maybe cook first.
- note: Gelatin is to make up for using beef instead of veal. Has more flavor, but still sticks together. I haven't tried without gelatin so don't know how much of a difference it makes.
- subheading: Topping:
- Ketchup glaze (I have not made this yet)
- Brown Gravy (Instead of glaze)
Steps
- Mix together all the ingredients. I use my hands. Don't overmix.
- Add it to a meatloaf pan.
- Let sit in fridge at least ½ hour. Can even make the day before and let sit. (Does sitting matter? I do it because it's like frikadeller and I do it there....)
- Bake at 375° for 40 minutes.
- Make the gravy while it's in the oven.
- If using glaze, may have to broil it.

- Freezing: I have frozen the loaf raw and put it directly into the hot oven. Needs about an hour.
