Servings: 1 recipe for 1lb ground beef or turkey
Ingredients
- 1½ Tbsp chili powder (originally 1 T)
- 1½ tsp cumin (originally 1 t)
- 1 tsp oregano (originally ½ t)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp (~15 cranks) fresh black pepper
- ¼ to ½ tsp smoked paprika (originally 1 t)
- ⅛ to ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- ¼ tsp granulated garlic
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- (The last two ingredients are optional if you don't plan to use fresh onions and garlic when making your taco beef/turkey)
Steps
- Combine everything in a small bowl and stir until evenly mixed. Use immediately, or store in an air-tight container, away from heat and sunlight, until ready to use.
Notes
- To use : brown your meat well, then add the seasoning and stir and coat meat with it, allowing spices to toast for a minute before adding a 14oz can of diced tomatoes and about ¼ cup of water. Fave tomatoes for this are Aurora or Mutti brand. Stir well. Let cook at a low bubble until tomatoes are broken down and desired consistency is achieved. Extra water can be added as you go if necessary. Adding a few dashes of Worcestershire is nice too.
