Gram's Baked Beans

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. dry beans
  • 1 medium onion
  • 10 slices cooked bacon
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 ½ cups water, divided
Steps
  1. 1. Soak beans for 2 or 3 hours. Drain.
  2. 2. Add dry beans, and 4 cups water to instant pot. Cover and set valve to seal. Cook on high pressure 45 minutes, followed by 20 minutes natural release.
  3. Release remaining pressure. Rinse beans under cold water, and drain.
  4. 3. Return the cooked beans to the instant pot. Add sugar, salt, dry mustard, butter, onion and 1 cup water. Add ½ cup of boiling water to molasses and pour over beans. Stir.
  5. 4. Cook on high pressure 10 minutes followed by 10 minute natural release.
  6. Release pressure and stir in bacon

  • I took my grandmother's baked bean recipe and converted it to the instant pot.
