Green Lentil Soup (Hen be mitbach)
Ingredients
  • ½ kilo (500 grams) green/brown lentils, soaked in water for at least two hours (possible overnight)
  • 2 chopped onions (possible in a food processor)
  • 4 branches of celery with chopped leaves (possible in a food processor)
  • about 1 package of chopped cilantro (possible in a food processor )
  • 2 teaspoons of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 4 crushed garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup of oil
  • about 2 to 3 liters of boiling water
  • about 2 tablespoons of salt or to taste
  • subheading: For the crispy baguette:
  • 1 loaf of country baguette or country bread.
  • Olive oil
  • and a clove of garlic
