Less Sweet American Buttercream (Aka American Dreamy Buttercream)
Ingredients
  • subheading: For 1 cup of buttercream (good for testing out this recipe):
  • ½ cups (113g) unsalted butter, softened slightly
  • 3 ½ tablespoons (69g) light corn or glucose syrup*
  • 7 tablespoons (50g) powdered sugar (unsifted)**
  • pinch fine salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons of heavy cream, room temperature (optional, pls see footnotes)***
  • purple gel food coloring (optional)
  • subheading: For 3 cups of buttercream:
  • 1 ½ cups (340g) unsalted butter, softened slightly
  • ⅔ cups (208g) light corn or glucose syrup*
  • 1 ¼ cups (141g) powdered sugar (unsifted)**
  • ⅛ teaspoon fine salt (to taste, start with a pinch)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 6 tablespoons of heavy cream, room temperature (optional, pls see footnotes)***
  • purple gel food coloring (optional)
