Apple Crumble
Ingredients
  • subheading: Base:
  • 4 cups apples (peeled, thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • ½ tsp Mixed Spice
  • ¼ Cup Water
  •  
  • subheading: Crumble Topping:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ cup Dark Cane Sugar or Soft Brown Sugar
  • 75g Butter (cold and cut into cubes)
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Place fruit in a well-greased pie dish, sprinkle with Sugar, mixed spice and water. In a food processor, mix topping ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Sprinkle crumble topping over the fruit, bake for 45 to 50 minutes until topping is firm and lightly golden brown.
  3. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice-cream.
  4. Variations: Try mixing apples with other fruit such as pears. Add raisins or sultanas for some extra flavour. -
