Cinnamon Whole Wheat Scones

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons (113g) unsalted butter, cold
  • ½ cup (85g) King Arthur Cinnamon Sweet Bits, cinnamon chips, or the chips of your choice
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup (113g) milk*
  • note: Substitute ½ cup (113g) half-and-half or light or heavy cream for more tender scones.

  • Topping
  • milk, for brushing scones
  • coarse sparkling sugar, for topping
  •  
  • Glaze (optional)
  • 1 cup (113g) confectioners' sugar
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons milk
