Slow Cooker Shawarma
Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless baby chickens or 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • ¼ cup shawarma seasoning (store bought or use recipe below)
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for a bit of a kick)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • subheading: TAHINI SAUCE:
  • ½ cup tahini paste
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup fresh parsley or cilantro, or a mix of both
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Pinch of salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground sumac powder (optional)
