Maryland Crab Cakes in My Air Fryer
Ingredients
  • 1 egg.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise.
  • 1 smallish diced onion
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt.
  • ¼ cup finely diced celery, from one stalk.
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley.
  • 2 tins crab meat ( 400 g ). Or Fresh if you have it.
  • ¾ to 1 cup crushed Saltine crackers. In Australia use Salada's.
  • I combined the egg, mayonnaise, onion,Dijon mustard, Worcestershire, Old Bay spice mix,Saladas, salt, celery, and parsley in a large bowl and mixed well. I then added the crab meat ,gently folded the mixture together until it was just combined, being careful not to over mash the crab meat. I then tasted it and decided to chuck in a ½ tspn of lemon pepper I then shaped it into 5 crab cakes, rolled them very carefully in some Panko crumbs and placed on plate. I then whacked em into the refrigerator for about an hour to help them to harden a bit. When I pulled them out I put some oil on them ,not too much and put em in my AF at 180 for 15 minutes, just in the basket. I then pronounced them done. They were very nice ,although next time I make them I won't put crumbs on the outside. I feel they would be better without them.
  • Notes- when you crush the Saladas or whichever cracker biscuit you use don't over crush, bits about the size of a finger nail is about what you want.
  • One ingredient I used is Old Bay Seasoning, it's American and is a prohibited import into Australia because a couple of spices are banned by Aquis if they come from America. I will follow this with a recipe to make your own if you want to.There is one place in Australia called The Spice Mill in NSW where you can get it from. You will find them on their own page or you can get it from eBay.
