My sister in law makes the best sauce. Yummy!

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 med onion; finely chopped
  • 1 green pepper; finely chopped
  • 2 15-oz cans tomato sauce
  • 2 12-oz cans tomato paste
  • 1 can mushrooms; or more to taste
  • 2 envelopes Italian-style spaghetti sauce mix
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tb sugar
  • 1 tsp oregano leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic; crushed
  • 1 bay leaf; crumbled
  • 16 oz spaghetti noodles
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
Steps
  1. Cook and stir ground beef, onion and green peppers until meat is brown and onion is tender.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients except spaghetti noodles and cheese.
  3. Cover and simmer 1.5 hours, stirring sauce occasionally.
Notes
  • Note: Recipe originally called for 1 7.5-oz can olives (pitted, drained and sliced) but we omitted them and added the canned mushrooms.
