A wonderful yeast biscuit that can be frozen raw and baked later
Ingredients
  • 5 Cups flour
  • ¼Cup sugar
  • 3 t baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 Cup shortening
  • 2 t dry yeast
  • ¼ C warm water
  • 1 cup buttermilk....substitute whey and Greek yogurt to measure 1 cup
  • melted butter
Steps
  1. Sift dry ingredients
  2. Cut in shortening
  3. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add with whey to dry ingredients.
  4. Roll out ¼ inch thick, cut with round cookie cutter. OR cut in squares.
  5. Dip in melted butter and fold in half
  6. Bake on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden brown
  7. Bake only what you need.
  8. Form the rest and place very close together on a cookie sheet.
  9. Freeze and then put in plastic freezer bags.
  10. When needed, remove from the freezer and place on a cookie sheet and let thaw and rise.
  11. Bake 400 degrees for 15 or so minutes
