My husband bought some for our emergency food supply and I had no idea how to use them.  Here are some ideas.
Ingredients
  • black bean flakes
Steps
  1. Black bean flakes are cooked black beans that have been dried and then chipped.   They are easily re-hydrated by soaking ⅓ cup of flakes in ⅓ cup boiling water for about 15 to 30 minutes.
  2. To the re-hydrated bean flakes add hot peppers and some Mexican spices and use as a bean dip or fill a burrito.  Thinned with milk or cream it can be used to make black bean bisque.  Add to soups or casseroles as a thickener with unique flavor.   Replace chickpeas with black bean flakes for a unique Hummus.
  3. When adding to soups or other recipes with plenty of liquid, you can add the bean flakes directly into the food while cooking.
