Instant Pot: Cube Steak

Ingredients
  • subheading: Main Dish:
  • 4 cubed steaks (2 to 3 lbs)
  • 1 can French Onion soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 packet Brown Gravy mix
  • 1½ cups water
  •  
  • subheading: Slurry:
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
Steps
  1. subheading: Main Dish:
  2. Pour 1½ cups water, French Onion soup, cream of chicken soup and packet of Brown gravy mix. Whisk together well inside of the IP.
  3. Place all of the steaks into the IP, making sure to coat both sides of everything.
  4. Close lid, turn valve to “Sealing.” Cook on Manual High pressure for 20 minutes.
  5. After cooking is complete, allow dinner to NPR for 10 minutes then carefully turn valve to “Venting”.  Never QR this dish!
  6. subheading: Gravy:
  7. Turn the Instant Pot to the sauté mode.
  8. Remove the meat and cover with aluminum on a plate.
  9. In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix together ¼ cup water with cornstarch (this is called a “slurry”).
  10. Pour this slurry mixture into the gravy that is already in the Instant Pot. Whisk well to combine. Continue to whisk until gravy starts to thicken.
  11. subheading: Final Touches:
  12. Place cube steaks back into the pot to warm them. Turn off Instant Pot.
  13. Serve your cube steak with gravy over mashed potatoes with some freshly steamed green beans.
  14. Rice can also be tasty replacement for mashed potatoes.
