Fried Popcorn Chicken W/ Hot Honey Sauce

Ingredients
  • note: yet to try this smaller recipe- the below recipe is approximately what i did- will take this message off once i have- so don't judge if its yuk haha;)
  •  
  • 1kg Chicken thighs (approx 8)- each thigh cut into 6
  • 1pk cornflakes- crushed with rolling pin (i used GF cornflakes)
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 65g plain flour (i used orgran gf plain flour)
  • 1 ½ tsp dried basil
  • 1tsp dried oregano
  • 1½tbsp celery salt
  • 1tbsp black pepper
  • ½tbsp mustard powder
  • ¼cup smoked paprika
  • 2 ½tbsp garlic salt
  • 1½tbsp ginger
  • 1 buttermilk 600ml
  • Vegeta gourmet real stock seasoning (for seasoning only- optional)
  •  
  • Hot Honey Sauce
  • ½Cup Honey
  • 1tsp chilli flakes
  • 1tsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½tsp kosher salt
  • 1tbsp smoked paprika
Steps
  1. Put cut chicken thighs into large bowl and pour over buttermilk. Mix, cover & refrigerate for 8+hrs.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  3. To make the hot honey sauce- mix all ingredients together on the stove on low for 5 minutes then it is ready to go. (lasts up to 6mths)
  4. Once the 8+ hrs is up- tip all chicken into a colander to get rid of excess buttermilk
  5. Coat chicken in crumb.
  6. Heat deep fryer to 180°. Put chicken into basket ensuring that there is not pieces on top of each other. 4 minutes and your chicken should be done. Sprinkle with vegeta seasoning & drizzle with hot honey sauce.
