2 sticks 1 c cold unsalted butter (not margarine!)

1 ½ c packed brown sugar

½ c granulated sugar

2 eggs room temperature (see my trick if you forget to take ’em out ahead of time!)

3 tsp vanilla extract

3 c 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt I use sea salt, but regular table salt is fine

2 c semisweet chocolate chips
