Vegan Brown Gravy
Ingredients
  • ¼ cup flour (I used gluten free)
  •  
  • 2 tbsps Nutritional Yeast
  •  
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  •  
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  •  
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  •  
  • 2 cups veggie broth
  •  
  • 2 tbsps Tamari
  •  
  • ½ tsp Kitchen Bouquet (colour) optional
  •  
  • 4 oz mushrooms
  •  
  • 1 medium onion
  •  
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves
Steps
  1. Toast dry ingredients over heat until aromatic.
  2. Slowly whisk in veggie broth.
  3. Add soy sauce (and optional Kitchen Bouquet).
  4. Simmer on med-low heat until thickened (if you have a Vitamix with a soup setting you can skip this simmering step).
  5. Transfer to a blender.
  6. Then sauté your mushrooms, onions and garlic in a saucepan and add to blender.
  7. Blend for 5 to 6 mins or if you have a vitamix just set it on the “soup” setting.
  8. Smother your potatoes in it
