Biscuits

Servings: 50

Servings: 50
Ingredients
  • 15 C. Flour
  • 6 ⅔ TBSP Baking Powder
  • 5 TBSP Sugar
  • 5 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 3 ¾ C. Butter
  • 5 C. Milk
Steps
  1. Stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add milk all at once. Stir until just moistened.
  2. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead dough by folding for 4 to 6 strokes or until dough just holds together. Pat or lightly roll dough until ¾” thick. Cut the dough with a floured 2½” biscuit cutter.
  3. *For flaky, crispy biscuits, brush with melted butter/margarine before putting them in the oven.*
  4. Place biscuits nearly touching on pan with parchment paper down. Bake in a 350 oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve immediately
