  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening (Crisco)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 teaspoon lemon zest from about 1 large lemon
  • 2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice zest the lemon first before squeezing
  • 4 to 6 tablespoon multicolored sprinkles optional

  • 3 cups powdered (confectioner's) sugar
  • 4 teaspoon lemon zest from about 1 large lemon
  • 2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice zest the lemon first before squeezing
  • 2 to 4 tablespoon milk; more if needed
