Mac and Cheese by Briana Thomas THM S
I used Dreamfield’s pasta to make this healthy macaroni and cheese.  Dreamfield’s is manufactured in a unique way so as to minimize a blood sugar spike, and it is approved in the Trim Healthy Mama plan in S or E settings as a personal-choice item once in awhile.  If you find your weight loss stalling, Dreamfield’s pasta would be an item to cut back on.  Making this macaroni and cheese is actually the first time I had ever used Dreamfield’s pasta in the 2+ years I’ve been doing THM, and it’s not something I’m going to use on a regular basis, but for a once-in-awhile treat I don’t have a problem with it.  If you’d rather use this mac and cheese sauce on zucchini noodles, go for it!  I was curious to see how eating this pasta would make my stomach feel, because after being on THM I hardly ever eat pasta; and if I ever do eat bready or pasta-y things, they make my stomach hurt.  This pasta didn’t make my stomach hurt, so that was kind of my personal gauge to see if my body could handle it
Ingredients
  • 2 cups dry Dreamfield's penne pasta (or whatever shape you prefer)
  • subheading: Cheese sauce:
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 T salted butter
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
