Ham and Bean Soup

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Great Northern Beans*
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp celery salt
  • 2 tsp onion salt
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Tabasco sauce, to taste
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 4 chicken bouillon cubes
  • ½ cup catsup
  • ¾ C. chopped celery
  • ¾ C chopped carrots
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 meaty hambone
Steps
  1. *Wash and soak beans overnight. Or boil beans in 6 to 8 cups water for 3 minutes. Cover and let soak 2 hours. Drain.
  2. Combine beans, 2 quarts water and salt in large pot. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, then simmer 2 to 4 hours.
  3. Remove bone, cut off ham and return to soup.
